Participation in WindEurope 2025 conference

Participation in WindEurope 2025 in Denmark, Copenhagen

Under the project “Life-cycle of an offshore wind farm in the legal framework: the case of Latvia”, participation took place in the WindEurope Annual Event from April 8-10, 2025, in Copenhagen, Denmark. A poster presentation was given with a recorded oral report entitled “State-of-the-art of the legislative framework for the development of offshore wind farms in the Baltic States and Poland.”

A comparative study of the legal framework for offshore wind energy in the Baltic States and Poland shows that effective development of the sector requires full life-cycle regulation with a faster and more predictable permitting process that is in line with the latest EU policy and legal trends. The steps recommended in the study include the designation of renewables acceleration areas, the introduction of a single point of contact approach, applying the principle of overriding public interest, using non-price criteria in auctions and nature-based solutions, as well as informing the public and educating professionals (planners, judges).

A report presenting the results of this study has been prepared, submitted, and published in the proceedings of the WindEurope annual conference.
