IMPLEMENTATION OF A NEW PROJECT “POTENTIAL OF TRADITIONAL AND RECIRCULATION INLAND AQUACULTURE FOR INCLUSIVE AND INTELLIGENT FISHERIES DEVELOPMENT IN THE BALTIC STATES (AQUA4DEV-BS)” HAS COMMENCED
The Institute of Legal Sciences at the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia, implementation of the project “Potential of traditional and recirculation inland aquaculture for inclusive and intelligent fisheries development in the Baltic States (AQUA4DEV-BS)” has commenced. The aim of the project is to explore the potential of traditional and recirculation inland aquaculture for inclusive and intelligent fisheries development in the Baltic States.
The project seeks to provide practical support to industry representatives, particularly micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), by fostering new aquaculture developments, strengthening competitiveness and resilience, reducing dependence on seafood imports, and creating new economic opportunities and jobs. In addition, the project will contribute to the
development of information policy in the sector through the elaboration of a decision-support tool based on the Latvian case study.
The project will be implemented from February 2026 to January 2029.
The research is funded in the framework of Activity 1.1.1.9 “Post-doctoral Research” of the Specific Objective 1.1.1 “Strengthening research and innovative capacities and introduction of advanced technologies in the common R&D system” of the European Union’s Cohesion Policy Programme for 2021-2027 research application No.1.1.1.9/LZP/2/25/218 “Potential of traditional and recirculation inland aquaculture for inclusive and intelligent fisheries development in the Baltic States (AQUA4DEV-BS)”.
